A bit of a rough afternoon

July 1, 2026

As we all know healing isn’t linear. Especially this early in the game. My’s blood pressure remains really low even with medication for it and extra fluids on board. They also aren’t having good urine output.

When PT came by my was very strong. The physical therapist said My was the strongest TPIAT patient she’s seen first day. I still can’t believe they were able to get out of the bed and into a chair. Getting up did make My’s blood pressure plummet. It was so scary. It happened both sitting up in bed and getting into the chair. My passed out for just a few seconds. They felt really nauseous and the pain got so bad to where they were crying. They never cry! I had to sneak out to go get sick in the bathroom. Seeing the blood pressures go so low had Daniel and I both pretty upset.

Praying those can come up to a normal level, that urine would become normal out put, and pain would stay manageable.

My just got more pain meds and asked us to play their favorite music. They are in between a sleep and awake state making sigh noises as they breathe.

I love to forget the negative side of things quickly and focus on the positive, so that situation threw me.

My continues to be a trooper. They keep asking for water, but aren’t able to have any for a day or two at least. Until they are ready for feeds. At one point after asking probably 5 times (they’re pretty out of it) they asked “What could I DO to get some water?” So sweet. Ready to wheel and deal.

They are stacked with two towers of meds, but they got over to that chair and were bound and determined to do the physical things the doctors asked.
