We arrived back at the Ronald McDonald House last night at a little after midnight.
This time we flew from San Diego to Cincinnati/Kentucky. (The Cincinnati airport is actually in Kentucky! Who knew?!) The line for the rental car was SO long and very very slow moving, so we didn’t get our car till almost an hour and a half later. We opted for an economy sized regular car instead of electric this time, and that made the 1 hour & 46 minute trip to Columbus much easier. I did have to stop for caffeine, because I was DRAGGING. I had to take Benadryl before we left, because I got stung the night before and am allergic (I think an urgent care visit is in my future, unfortunately) . The Benadryl helped me knock out on the plane, but had me drowsy for a long time after.
My did well on the flight, and we did have a Scolpamine patch with us this time. That totally helped so that they weren’t horrendously sick after the travel. Last time we flew it was really hard on them.
Today we have 2 appointments and will be at the hospital til late afternoon. We are starting with what they call “prehab.” The prehab appointments are specialized therapy appointments that help build a toolbox of coping skills/mechanisms to deal with pain, as well as prepare for the possibility of the TPIAT surgery. The TPIAT surgery is very intense with a long recovery, so they take the mental health of the patient very seriously since there is a long road ahead even with surgery. Our second appointment is a motility appointment. It’s so impressive that they have an entire team dedicated to motility here! Slow motility is a familial issue from my side, and it effects My pretty badly. Although, issues with things like this seem to go right along with pancreatitis. Before we found the pancreas issue, they blamed all of Mylin’s pain on this. Which was beyond frustrating, because we knew the pain was more than that. At the same time, this is an issue for My, and I will be interested in what they have to share with us today.
