IB Stim Session #2 Round #3

5/13/2026

Today we began session number two of our third round of IB STIM. We usually leave San Diego early to avoid as much traffic as possible and take the hospital’s first appointment. However, in true teenager fashion, Mylin let me know their AP exam for German was also at the exact same time and date as our Orange County appointment just two days ago. Thank goodness the hospital was able to work with us and give us a later appointment. That also meant driving there and back with rush-hour traffic. 😴

Usually, when Mylin has the device applied, they feel a small buzzing through all of the electrodes. Last time that didn’t happen. This time it eventually did, but it was delayed. That definitely had the nurse scratching her head. Hopefully the first one was fully functional (the small battery pack plugs into the electrodes like a USB connection, so the device is automatically turned on once they are connected). As I’ve said previously in the past, Mylin never felt results until one week after the fourth session. As far as how Mylin‘s feeling it’s still been a mixed bag. Definitely still a handful of days that they’re sleeping the entire day away and more days of pain and nausea than without. However, I do feel like as a whole, we got them to eat a bit more than usual this week. So I will call that a win.

On a sidenote, we are supposed to hear back as soon as tomorrow afternoon from nationwide Children’s Hospital about whether or not Mylin is a candidate for the surgery. I know I will be anxiously awaiting that call all day.
