Chronically sick kid with healthy siblings

05/02/2026

For those of you just getting to know me, Mylin is my oldest and then I have twins that are two years younger, Lakyn & Eisley.

Sitting here for our over 3 hour layover, and watching Lakyn’s annual piano and voice recital that we couldn’t be at today, I can’t help but feel horrible I missed. She didn’t play like she wanted and is texting me she is in tears. Eisley had her school play she’d been working on since Christmas Break this week also while we were gone, and Lakyn had a high school cheer meeting she had been looking forward to for over a year just to name a few.

These are some of the many unseen hard parts of all of this, beyond how horrific it is for My, is how hard jt can be for the twins too. Daniel and I stretch ourselves as far as we can (for sure to the point of exhaustion) to ensure they don’t miss out on much. They still do sports, extracurriculars, friend hangouts, and more. We are the house that always has extra kids and everyone is welcome even when stuff is spinning out of control. Still they feel it.

It’s inevitable in any situation that you can’t be there for everything, but it still stings.
